Many people are infected with CMV, but it often causes no symptoms or mild illness in healthy individuals. However, it can be of concern for people with weakened immune systems, such as newborns, individuals with HIV/AIDS, or those who have undergone organ transplantation. Signs and symptoms of CMV can vary depending on the affected individual and their immune system's strength. In healthy individuals, CMV infections typically cause flu-like symptoms or no symptoms at all. However, when symptoms do occur, they may include: - Fever - Fatigue - Sore throat - Swollen glands - Muscle aches - Loss of appetite - Headache In individuals with weakened immune systems, CMV can cause more severe symptoms and complications.
